My name is Vernice Smith, and I founded this ministry because I know firsthand what it feels like to stand at the edge of hopelessness, clutching the hands of my children while wondering where we would sleep that night. Years ago, as a single mother fleeing domestic violence, I bounced between shelters, temporary motels, and the kindness of strangers. The shame was crushing—the fear that my babies would grow up believing instability was normal, that dreams were luxuries we couldn’t afford. But in the darkest moments, God met me through the quiet faithfulness of a church that didn’t just hand me a blanket but walked with me: praying over my fears, helping me heal from trauma, teaching me how to budget, study for my GED, and eventually earn a degree in social work. They showed me that true help isn’t a handout—it’s a hand up, wrapped in the unconditional love of Jesus.

That experience transformed me, and now it fuels everything we do. With over 15 years in social services and nonprofit leadership, I’ve counseled hundreds of women, advocated in courtrooms, and built programs that move families from crisis to celebration. Yet my deepest qualification isn’t my résumé—it’s my redeemed story. I’m passionate about helping women like the old me: survivors of abuse, addiction, or abandonment who deserve more than survival. We deserve to thrive in safe homes we own, with healthy bodies and minds, meaningful careers, and the joy of watching our children flourish without the shadows I once knew. This is why our holistic, Christ-centered approach exists—to break cycles not just for one generation, but forever.
